Is Full Mouth Reconstruction Right For Me?

Not everyone would benefit from full mouth rehabilitation. Mainly, itā€™s ideal for individuals who need a fair amount of dental work to rebuild or simultaneously restore all of the teeth in both their upper and lower jaws. For example, if you have lost teeth due to decay or trauma, have teeth that are fractured beyond repair, or suffer from severely worn teeth caused by long-term acid erosion and or tooth grinding. Additionally, we can help those experiencing chronic jaw, muscle, or headache pain due to a misaligned bite, as full mouth reconstruction can adjust and provide balance.Ā

The process begins with a one-on-one consultation with our dentists. During this thorough examination, we will take digital X-rays, digital impressions, and precise scans of your teeth and jaw. Weā€™ll discuss your goals, overall oral health, and budget to create a custom treatment plan tailored to your needs.

Assortment of Possible Procedures

Depending on your unique dental condition and overall vision for your smile, full mouth reconstruction can include a variety of restorative procedures. Some of the treatments that may be included are:

  • Dental implants to replace missing teeth
  • Dental crowns to restore damaged or weakened teeth
  • Dentures (full, partial, or implant-supported) for comprehensive tooth replacement
  • Fillings to treat cavities
  • Periodontal treatment to address gum disease
  • TMJ disorder treatment to alleviate jaw pain and dysfunction
  • Dental bridges to replace one or more missing teeth
  • Dental bone grafting to rebuild bone in areas where support is neededĀ
  • Tooth extractions for severely injured or damaged teeth
  • Clear aligners to reposition teeth and correct alignment issues

Once your oral health has been restored, cosmetic treatments can further enhance your smile. If youā€™re interested, our dentists can speak with you about:

Reconstruction Cases

Gene

Gene is a typical example of what I call multidisciplinary dentistry. Due to a bad dental experience in the military and an extremely high gag reflex, Gene had not seen a dentist since 1974. A pharmacist and genuinely nice guy, Gene finally made a decision to visit my practice when the fear and pain of losing his teeth overshadowed the fear of dentists and the unpleasantness of his gag reflex. He presented with several missing and decayed teeth that were affecting not only his smile but his ability to chew as well. Over the course of two years, employing ā€œdream sleepā€ (Kalamazoo oral conscious sedation) to allay fear and eliminate his gag reflex, I was able to reconstruct natural teeth and replace several missing teeth with dental implants. Using implants to support new back teeth in all four quadrants, I was able to restore Geneā€™s collapsed bite. Porcelain was employed over the restored, remaining natural teeth to improve strength and esthetics as well as improve the bite. Gum therapy improved the gum and bone support and assured him of long term success. This case demonstrates an ability to overcome several obstacles to ideal treatment: Fear, Gagging, Gum Disease, Decay, Missing Teeth, Pain, and Lack of Adequate Bite. Now thatā€™s multidisciplinary!
